Resident Evil

Resident Evil, the first true survival horror game to map the way for other successful games such as Silent Hill and even the popular shooter Gears of War. For one game series to revolutionize the gaming industry in such ways is usually unheard of or considered a work of fiction, yet Resident Evil is the series that has all fact behind its success. So in commemoration to the survival horror franchise this review is going to be on the game that started it all, the storyline that is still being experienced by players to this day, and the gameplay experience that had been untouched by other competing titles for years.

Resident Evil: The Original

A game that would never be forgotten for Resident Evil players. Fearful in two ways, the spooks throughout the game, and the horrendous voice acting. But the terrible voice over aspect would come to win the hearts of many Resident Evil fans around the world. Resident Evil allowed the player to cover two different scenarios of the conspiracy in the mansion at the base of the Arklay mountains. The events that unfolded on the outskirts of Raccoon City had gamers begging for both a sequel and a replay. The gameplay mechanic of Resident Evil had its ups and downs, often the gamer would find their character running into walls instead of turning and other mishaps. Gamers also tired of the insignificant loading screens of the game (the doors that open very slowly). Apart From some minor issues Resident Evil set the bar for survival horror, having scare scenes that can still make those new to the franchise leap off the couch. Sure the realism and horror weren't as epic scale as Silent Hill, but the Resident Evil series has two things that Silent Hill lacks, consistency and a general storyline. This game was the Genesis of a new era for gamers everywhere. The rating is obviously a 10 out of 10, Capcom's legend still thrives in greatness!
